Inception

Drawing inspiration from India’s traditional stepwells, Furaat modernized the concept into a modular, easy-to-maintain rainwater harvesting system. This innovation addressed the challenges of conventional recharge pits over borewells, which were difficult to service due to large volumes of filter media and long construction timelines.

Founded by entrepreneurs Habil and Yusufi Attarwala, Furaat combines traditional water conservation wisdom with modern engineering and a deep understanding of geo-hydrology. The result is a scientifically driven approach to rainwater harvesting that has been implemented across the country since the early 2000s.
