Key Features

  • Modular, easy-to-install and maintain system
  • Suitable for varied site conditions and depths
  • High durability with precast concrete construction
  • Designed for efficient sediment removal and groundwater recharge

Traditionally open pit basic masonry was constructed around the borewell with a large quantity of gravels as filter media. These several drawbacks therefore furaat came up with Modular stepwell technology for efficient percolation of rainwater into the recharge well.

Here is a comparison of Furaat Modular Stepwell v/s Open pit basic masonry

Structure
Compact modular technology Large footprint Structure
There is flexibility for the borewell/rechargewell to be installed besides the filtration structure. The filtration structure has two modules - HFM (Horizontal Filtration Module) & SFM (Sand Filtration Module) connected to the borewell/tube-well. The recharge pit is constructed around the borewell/tube-well. Blowing of the compressor in the time of maintenance is not possible.
The number of layers of the modular system can be installed depending on the invert levels and the site conditions. It is conventional pit structure made of bricks which in long term will erode.
Furaat modules have filtration capacity of 25m3/hr approximately. The filtration rate of the structure does not have any measuring parameters.
Furaat Modular Structures are designed with integral ladder structure for easy access and human safety. No safety provisions. Special preparation is required to access the structure.
The primary module of the system is specially planned for controlling the heavy load of sediments. The possibility of structure getting choked up is extremely high as all the sediments are concentrated in a single space.
The modules are specifically designed for RW harvesting of M-25 grade of RCC. The other components are of heavy duty PVC for seamless steel flow increasing the longevity. The availability of materials used to implement the design is not consistent for all terrains.
The primary filtration structure (HFM) has indigenously designed 4-nozzary filters to capture sediment effectively while gravels, V-wire screen surrounded by coarse sand is used in the secondary structure (SFM). The filtration media used is a combination of sand, pebbles, gravels, metals, carbon, charcoal.
The ready-made precast modular slabs of the structure can be installed within 2 days along with filter media fitting. Construction time varies depending on the material used which is around 15-24 days for curing and bonding.
Furaat system is cost effective, modular, easy to mobilize and sustainable. The structure is expensive and immobile once constructed.
Furaat’s harvesting structures are Green Pro Certified by IGBC (Indian Green Building Council). No certification/recognition of the structure by a council body.
Service and Maintenance
Maintenance is easy and can be done by domestic help or non-skilled laborers with basic instructions without any recurring cost. Maintenance is cumbersome and time consuming as it requires mechanical devices to remove the filtration media along with major civil force.
The borewell/tube-well is more accessible for cleaning/blowing the compressor as it is beside the modules without disturbing the sediments in the filtration structure. In case of blowing the compressor in future for increasing efficiency, all the layers of filter media need to be removed.
Furaat along with technology and design and installation provides strong technical service support for efficient harvesting with more than 500 people deployed for service and cleaning in Gujarat. There is no scientific service plan and no trained personnel for scheduled and timely service support.
A special valve for maintenance of the system is provided for maintenance. There is no provision for valve.
Design and Experience
Years of experience from 2004 to 2023 and 22,000+ modular systems are installed with constant upgradation and improvement in design. No single company has installed these many systems.
Specially designed high-flow array filters are installed to control cow dung, grass, algae and other environment sediments of open reservoirs which provides pure, clean and filtered pond water to the aquifers. There are no such provisions.
Quantification
Furaat has the technological advantage of wireless radio modules with transceiver data which can be transmitted in computer devices. The entire systems 10 years of battery backup life. There is no wireless radio module system to quantify rainwater to transreceiver to main computer.
